bitter pill or breath mint?
  • The debate goes on…

There is no shame in paying to meet someone you wouldn’t normally meet in everyday life,  If you want to further your career and are Ready and  by “Ready” we mean, competently and confidently there as an Actor and finacially capable of doing it with out taking food out of your mouth or someone else’s.  Money is a measurement of value placed on something.  If you can do it, It shows a level of seriousness and sincerity to the person’s time you are paying to share.  There is also no shame in not paying.  The choice, Ultimately is “Yours” and that is where the debate truely ends.

So remember, It is your Career.

Not your family’s, your friend’s, or your Loved one’s.

    It is your Life.

If you choose to do it,  feel proud and lucky you can afford to do it.

and if you choose the opposite, feel proud about that too.

But if you do choose to do it, Remember, it is still a two way street. Just because your are paying to meet someone doesn’t give you a free pass. You still have to deliver the Goods as an Actor and by “the Goods” we mean, your Professional Skills as an Actor.  Notice we said “Professional Skills” and not acting professional. Anyone can act and talk professional, you will only fool yourself and the other people involved as long as you do not have to show them any of your “Professional Skills” or lack there of. What the Entertainment Business is looking for are Professionally Skilled Actors, not people who act professional say they’re actors and are bad.

Now, the two way street becomes a double edge sword.

Does everyone have professional acting skills? Of course, not. Everyone does not. So you have to be honest with yourself and ask yourself, “Am I  Ready?” No one can answer that but you. If you are Ready and can do it finacially with out putting yourself in the dog house, GO FOR IT!!!

On another note, please remember there are only so many roles out there and available to cast.  Even if someone in Casting loves you and likes you and wants to cast you they may not have a project that is right for for you immediately.

And if an Agent or Manager totally enjoyed reading with you and the meeting went well for both of you,  they may have a direct conflict with an actor or actors your type already on their roster that they already have a working functional relationship with. Or they just might not have enough imagination to see all the possibility for you. Blame them, Don’t. They are only human.

So with those grains of salt, do your best to look only into your webcam, and not check your hair in the video window with your face in it! : )

I hope you make the most of your Skypecasted sessions and wish you great success.

Good Luck, break a Leg, knock em Dead and take the red pill.
